Since 2006, Jieun Kim and I have been working on the pitch-accent system of her native dialect, South Kyengsang Korean, spoken in the southeastern part of the Korean peninsula around Pusan. The Kyengsang dialects (North and South) preserve the tonal system of Middle Korean, though in modern Korean, the reflex of tones is better described as a pitch-accent system.
