This module introduces Intermediate Swahili students to authentic materials on the topic of AIDS in East Africa.  Focused on photographs taken by Hinnebusch in Tanzania and Kenya between 2002 and 2005, and interviews conducted by Thompson in 2006, the lesson encourages students to consider how East African cultures and the Swahili language are changing in the time of AIDS.
