JPlotFormants (formerly Plot FRogmants) is freeware with no restrictions of any kind. The program and all accompanying files, including this file, graphics, documentation and webpages associated with this program are copyright 2001 Roger Billerey-Mosier.
Please do not distribute the program yourself. Instead, you are asked to refer interested users to the download page, where they will be able to download the program themselves for free without providing any identifying information:

2. System requirements:

Hardware:

A Windows, Macintosh, Unix/Linux or Solaris computer with about 150KB free hard drive space.
Software:

You must have a recent (1.2 or newer) Java runtime environment (JRE) installed on your computer. Macintosh computers running Mac OS X (10) should be Java-enabled out-of-the-box. If you don't have a JRE, you can download it here FREE for Windows, Solaris or Linux:

If the first Mac link doesn't work, go to the Apple site and click on "Download" in the gray box entitled "MRJ 2.2.x" on the right hand side. You will also need the swing classes, which are included in the MacOS X version of Java, but may not be in earlier versions.
The program will not run unless you have a JRE version 1.2 or newer installed on your computer.
You should also have a zip manager (WinZip, StuffIt, etc.) to extract the program files from the zip-packaged file JPlotFormants.zip. If you can read this, then you've already extracted the files and there's nothing to worry about.

3. Installation instructions:

Extract the .zip file into the folder of your choice. It comes with a sample file (sample.for).
If your system is set up properly with the Java runtime environment to run .jar files automatically, you should be able to double click on the PlotFrogmants.jar file. Otherwise, Windows users can double click on the PlotFrogmants.bat file. Mac users are on their own for now. For instructions about running Java programs on the Macintosh, go to:

4. Known issues
---------------
Color printers: Printing a plot in color on a color printer generally yields a black rectangle. Always select the "black and white" printing option to print a plot on a color printer. Color plots will then be printed in grayscale.
